Lose Weight Quick
Lose Weight Quick
What makes people fat?? Basically if we eat more food than we need our bodies convert the excess into fat and pack it away in fat cells. This is why we get cellulite on our legs or a spare tire around our bellies. The more we eat the bigger we get, so this has to be addressed if we want to change the tide and start to lose weight.
The rate at which our body uses food/calories is called the basal metabolic rate (BMR). It is broadly equivalent to the number of calories a person would expend while lying down, inactive but awake. People who are fasting or dieting use fewer calories as do overweight people, whereas lean or muscular people tend to burn more calories.
How often have you seen an advertisement for “lose weight quick” or “I lost fifty pounds in 4 weeks!”
Is it really possible to lose weight this fast? Lets take a look at the facts. A pound of body weight stores about 3,500 calories. To lose weight quick or slow you must reduce your calorie intake by that amount. On average a reduction of 1000 calories a day will bring a reduction of two pound a week. In order to eliminate 1000 calories a day the average person would have to reduce their food intake by almost a half. Of course we also need to be aware that reducing our food intake by such a large amount will automatically reduce the rate at which we burn the calories.
The bottom line is - it is that real weight loss takes time. You simply cannot lose 50lb of fat in 4 weeks. The chances are if you have lost more than the average 2lb per week you have either lost water or lean muscle and as lean muscle helps you to burn calories that really isn’t a good idea. Your desire to lose weight quick can very quickly become a vicious downward spiral. You may even find you have gained weight.
In order to lose weight permanently and healthily you need to do it slowly and sensibly. The best way to lose weight is to make small adjustments to the types of foods you eat, increase your exercise and stop counting calories and starving yourself
Remember if you lose weight quick and it is mainly water and muscle mass, this weight will, in time, be regained. If your body is losing fluid due to a poor dietary regime your body could suffer chronic dehydration which can lead to serious health problems.
Weight and health go hand in hand. Anyone who is overweight is kidding themselves if they think they can be overweight and healthy. The extra weight will inevitably take its toll on your body and your internal organs, and it is virtually impossible to be overweight if you eat a healthy, well balanced diet that suits your body type.
Take this matter seriously now before it is too late. Lose weight slowly and effectively and aim to keep it off for life.
