Lose Weight

Lose Weight Today

According to government statistics the adult obesity rate rose from 15% in 1980 to 32% in 2004. Even more alarmingly childhood obesity increased from 5% to 16 during the same period. Paul Zimmet, at an International Conference on Obesity in Sydney Australia in 2006 stated ” Obesity is now engulfing the entire world. It is as big a threat as global warming”

With such an indictment on the whole world, the question has to be asked why there has been an increase in the number of people putting weight on while many are failing daily to successfully lose weight today and keep it off?

Today there are more people joining health clubs, buying fitness equipment, buying diet pills and related programs an the Internet is full of so much information is hard to know where to begin. Despite all of this our over weight population is failing to lose weight today?

It would appear that although a well balanced diet and fitness are a major part of any program designed to help you to lose weight, it is not the whole story. In the short term it can be relatively easy to lose weight. The major hurdle facing the majority of people is successfully maintaining that weight loss.

The first thing to be aware of is the need not only to do cardiovascular training but also to do strength training. This of course would be in addition to a healthy well balanced and nutritional diet. These three elements have been scientifically researched to work synergistically together. However, we are all individuals with our own reasons for being over weight in the first place, and so for real success these individualities need to be taken into consideration. People who are successful in all walks of life, not just in their ability to lose weight today, are often highly motivated and positive thinking. Both of these mind sets are vitally important if you want to lose weight successfully. These people are often so motivated that they automatically see things through to the end. However most of us mortals are not so well motivated and need somebody to help us to keep on track. We need somebody watching over us or working alongside us to gee us up when the going gets tough.

If we take all of these elements into consideration we are much more likely not only to lose weight today but to maintain our weight loss.

So to recap, there are 5 basic parts to any successful weight loss program:-
A well balanced diet
A cardiovascular workout
Strength and resistance training
The correct mind set
An accountability partner

With these 5 elements in place there is no reason why anyone can’t lose weight effectively and permanently.
