Lose Weight Today with the Montignac Diet


Many overweight people would like to blame their condition on hereditary factors, which undoubtedly cannot be completely ruled out, but it is interesting to note that in the USA a hundred years ago obesity was unknown. Today 65% of all Americans are overweight and 33% are obese and desperately need to lose weight today. Heredity?? Who is supposed to have passed it on?? Basically it is just down to bad eating habits.


There is always someone we know who eats large amounts of food throughout the day and is not fat at all and may even be really slim. Most obese people often eat very small amounts of calories and as a result their bodies go into starvation mode. In order to lose weight today they actually need to eat more.


Of course more doesn’t mean eating anything, but it does mean eating more of the right sorts of foods more often.


Research done in France showed that 15% of obese people ate too much, 35% ate normally and 50% ate too little. So the same question needs to be answered. How do those 50% of obese people lose weight today? And again the answer is by eating more. The obese people who ate too much or the normal amount need to look more closely at what they are eating and when.


In fact all of the obese people need to be more aware of eating the right foods at the right time as this is the only way to successfully lose weight today. We only have to look at protein to understand the complexities of this matter. Inadequate protein from food can have serious consequences for the body, including:- muscle wastage, weakening of our defense system, wrinkled skin, bad scarring, organ damage. However on the other hand too much protein results in protein waste products remaining in the body, an indication of the danger of high protein diets to lose weight.


The Montignac Diet was devised by the Frenchman Michel Montignac with the aim of finding a solution to his own weight problems. He was the first person to have the idea of using the glycemic index (GI) of foods to lose weight efficiently and lastingly. The GI had previously only been used for people with people with diabetes. He discovered that the key factor in weight gain was foods with a high GI. Conversely it is possible to lose weight today by consuming foods with a low GI.
