Does the food speed up your metabolism or slow it down. Does it convert easily into fat or is it utilized by the body. It is also important to know the foods to avoid that will cause you to gain weight. Polyunsaturated fats can promote weight gain because they have a harmful effect on the thyroid. The thyroid gland controls metabolism. Polyunsaturated fats depress thyroid activity thus lowering the metabolic rate, just the opposite of coconut oil. So if you want foods to lose weight remember to avoid all polyunsaturated fats.
