Most people will only consider the need to lose weight when they are at least one stone (around 7kg) overweight. Unfortunately by this stage the body has already started to adjust to the new weight and weight loss starts to get difficult. The longer a person is overweight the more likely they are to have health problems.


The statistics concerning the general public’s health specifically surrounding being overweight has a huge impact on our health. The psychological consequences affect self-esteem and there is the risk of premature death as a result of diseases associated with obesity such as type 2 diabetes, heart disease, respiratory problems and some cancers to list a few. So lose weight.


It seems almost unbelievable that in 2007 an estimated 25.6% of US adults were obese. An increase of 1.7% from 2005. Despite all the information on the importance of maintaining a healthy weight, we’re not paying attention. So lose weight


With all the hype and media coverage we know that a healthy weight is important. We also know that everyone wants the best possible quality of life. At a healthy weight we look great, feel great and are healthier. Despite this the rate of overweight and obese people has grown to epidemic proportions. So lose weight.


Throughout the history of the human being we lived in a world where we didn’t have to lose weight just finding enough calories was a challenge. Physical activity wasn’t called exercise, it was called survival


If you think lack of willpower is the reason you can’t lose weight, you’ve overlooked one of the most important diet saboteurs: our environment. Supermarkets, restaurants, gas stations and department stores to name a few where fatty, sweet and salty foods are everywhere.


It is important that you believe that you can lose weight. It’s not just willpower you need to enable you to eat healthily, it’s useful information. Know where the calorie and fat dangers lurk and avoid or outsmart them to lose weight.


If you want to lose weight, outsmart it: Pay for gas at the pump so you don’t have to go inside. Seek out the department store cash register without the candy display. Don’t park near the mall entrance with the cinnamon bun stand. Don’t go shopping when you’re hungry-you’ll be better able to resist these impulse purchases. “It also helps to have your own healthy snacks on hand. I always keep a bag of nuts and pretzels in my car,” Fletcher says.


To help yourself to lose weight read labels and pick treats with a sodium content per serving lower than the number of calories. Or better yet, bake your own cookies. That way you’ll be more likely to be able to eat just one (OK, two). For snacks, stick with fewer flavors: Raw almonds are better than honey-roasted ones, plain popcorn beats kettle corn, and a piece of fruit is perfect and you’re on the road to lose weight. Good luck, follow these simple steps and lose weight!


Remember that your health is the most important thing. But if you are overweight you can’t be healthy and if you think you are you are just deluding yourself.
