Lose Weight – Why Fad Diets Don’t Work


Low Calorie Diets don’t work. You won’t lose weight on a low calorie diet because your metabolism detects a major drop in calories and then adjusts itself by burning fewer calories each day. It is simply a no win situation.


Low Fat Diets don’t work. Fat is necessary for your overall health and will leaving you feeling more satisfied at the end of a meal. Having a low fat diet will inevitably leave you feeling hungry and more likely to pick and snack after your meal. Low fat foods are generally made up of trans fatty acids which are in fact detrimental to your health as they block the absorption of essential fatty acids needed to keep you healthy and to help you to lose weight.


Low Carb Diets don’t work. As with low calorie diets low carb diets leave your body thinking it is starving. You may lose weight at the start of your diet but it will be mainly water you are losing not fat. Low carb diets often leaving you feeling miserable and this will not help you to lose weight in the long run.


At the end of the day it is important for you to be aware of your own bodies needs. If you listen to your body instead of listening to your head and your emotions you will start to eat was is right for you. Too many people eat according to their emotions. They give themselves a “sweet” treat if they are feeling down. If they have had a stressful day they reach for the alcoholic beverage to help them to calm down. If these habits occur on a regular basis they become the norm.


The science of how the human body works is a complex matter and cannot be taken lightly if we are to lose weight and be healthy. Very often the Fad Diet has taken into account only one small part of the whole picture. Successful weight loss requires you to take account of the whole picture. There really is no half way house.
