Lose weight according to body type is making more sense as science unravels the secrets of the body. Body typing used to refer mainly to outward appearance and body structure. The endomorph body type no longer refers only to outward physical characteristics, although Sheldon’s somtatotyping system originally referred to body structure alone. More recent advancements in body typing such as the Heath-Carter method, take into account internal (metabolic) characteristics as well and has an impact for those wanting to |lose weight|


From a metabolic perspective, the endomorph body type sometimes has varying degrees of carbohydrate sensitivity and insulin resistance. If someone is metabolically carbohydrate intolerant due to a genetic tendency, then high carbohydrate diets are not the preferred choice if they want to |lose weight| as they will stimulate excess secretion of insulin and glucose will be partitioned into the fat cells more easily.


The carb intolerant endomorph needs to heed very specific nutritional advice. They would be well advised to significantly reduce the amount of processed and refined carbs from their diet, particularly white sugar and white flour products. These concentrated carbs will convert to body fat more rapidly in endomorphs. The best solution for the endomorph body type is a moderate carb diet as baseline, for example a 40-40-20 split of protein, carbs and fat. For those particularly carb sensitive, taking the dietary fats up to 30% may be even better, producing a 40-30-30 macronutrient split. This has a huge significance not only to ensure there is not weight gain but also for those who have already gained weight and now are looking to |lose weight|.


From the baseline diet, the endomorph must carefully observe the effects of the diet o their bodies and then adjust the carbohydrate intake according to the results. For some endomorphs a further reduction in carbs may be necessary to help them to lose weight and in extreme cases a small handful of them may find they are more successful with a traditional ketogenic diet which is even lower in carbs and higher in fat.


An Individualized Approach to Nutrition is the Key!


The variation in body types must dictate the macronutrient split. This is one of the reasons why eating according to your body type is vital if you are to |lose weight|, maintain your weight or even gain weight. There is no one diet to suit all and so there should be a diet designed to suit the goals and body type of each individual.


In most cases diets designed to help you to lose weight follow the 90-10 rule, which means follow your diet strictly 90% of the time and then 10% of the time, eat whatever you want. As far as the 3 body types are concerned mesomorphs and ectomorphs would appear to be able to get away with being much more relaxed and which means they only need to follow their diet 80% of the time or maybe even less. The endomorph must follow their diet strictly to the rule. They can’t seem to “get away” with frequent indiscretions without paying the price and certainly would find it difficult to |lose weight|.. If you’re an endomorph this requires developing a high level of nutritional discipline and a strong desire to lose weight or see improvements in your body. You’ve got to really want it.
