How to Lose Weight: During Your Busy Day at Work


Are you desk bound for the majority of the day? Do you drive to work or sit in a train for an hour or more on your journey to and from work? When you get home at night are you so tired you just flop in front of the TV for a couple of hours? Whether you want to lose weight or not this is not a good position to be in. Your body needs regular exercise and you need to find a way to incorporate it into your stressful workday.


Here are a few ideas to help you in your desire to know how to lose weight during your busy day at work


As soon as you get up in the morning you can stretch your body to relieve any stiffness.


Invest in a rebounder and just spend 5 mins bouncing to wake yourself up. If you are trying to lose weight then a healthy breakfast including some fruit and some protein will get you off to a good start.


If you travel to work by train then a brisk walk first thing will get the oxygen into your lungs.


If you normally have a mid morning snack, maybe a biscuit or a pastry, try nibbling on some almonds or toasted cashew nuts. Alternatively a piece of fruit may satisfy any sweet cravings.


Make sure you have a chair that allows you to practice good posture. You could consider getting a balance ball to replace your chair, or you can even purchase chairs that have the ball built in as the seat. This keeps you in a constant state of motion and is actually better for your spine


Stand up every 30 minutes, stretch a little, walk in place a few steps – this can even be done while you’re still working.


Roll your wrists and stretch your arms regularly during the day


Get out of the office at lunchtime. Again a brisk walk will get the endorphins moving and a healthy lunch, maybe a salad and some fish or meat would be ideal for you if you are wanting to lose weight.


At your desk fitness does not replace a regular exercise routine, you’ll still want to get out and get moving for at least 30 minutes a day! What it will do is help you maintain your energy and keep you feeling good while you lose weight.

When you get home in the evening make sure you have a healthy meal and don’t eat too late in the evening. Take up an active hobby a couple of nights a week, maybe badminton or table tennis. Or perhaps you might take up golf at the weekends. All of these things will help you to lose weight. The changes only need to be small changes but they will make a significant difference to your weight loss if you stick to them.
