Time after time I hear the same cry – “I can’t lose weight.”


I sometimes wonder whether that is just an excuse as I know that given the right dietary regime anyone can lose weight.


Many people are not content to just lose weight, they want to lose weight fast. Generally this is because they want to reach their target weight as quickly as possible, they then go back to their old way of eating. What these people don’t realize is that if they lose weight fast the chances are they will gain weight just as fast when they have finished their diet. There are many diets available that promise the most amazing results. A recent diet called Fat Loss 4 Idiots, promises a weight loss of 9lb over the 11days of the diet. Apparently it is only possible to lose 2lb of fat per week so the remainder of the weight loss will either be water or muscle.


If you really want to lose weight fast then you need to change your perception of the word fast in this context. A weight loss of 2lb per week on a regular basis would mean that you would lose approximately 16lb over a 2 month period. This is far better than losing 9lb in 11 days only to put 7lb back on as soon as you start to eat again.


A diet that promises that you will lose weight fast is manipulating you into believing it is the answer to your prayers. We live in a world of fast food, fast cars, fast everything. The chances are you didn’t put 9lb’s worth of fat on in 11 days so equally the chances are you won’t be able to lose 9lb’s worth of fat in 11 days. It is best not to be too desperate to lose weight quickly as this can be counter-productive


Lose Weight Fast – is just a gimmick – but doubtless many will fall for it and many will truly believe they have lost 9lbs of fat in 11 days.


Weight loss should be approached hand in hand with healthy eating. Well balanced nutritious food eaten on a regular basis, in conjunction with a moderate exercise plan is the best way to lose weight and keep it off. This is a diet for life not a diet for 11 days.


It is vital that any weight loss diet teaches you how to change the bad eating habits that have caused you to be overweight.


So many people jump on the bandwagon of the latest fad diet and when they don’t lose weight automatically assume the problem is with them. If you want to know how to lose weight quickly the bottom line is calorific intake has to be less than calorific output. The big mistake many people make is in thinking that this automatically means that they have to cut calories in order to lose weight. This is an inappropriate and potentially dangerous approach to weight loss. It has some major flaws and the small number of calories that people consume on this type of diet can even result in people putting on weight. Firstly it loses muscle and muscle burns fat, and secondly the body’s hormones and enzymes are disrupted making it more difficult for the body to lose fat.


Not only can it affect your ability to lose weight but it can also affect your overall health. You may have wondered why one person who follows a particular diet loses weight while another person loses very little or even puts weight on. However on the other hand maybe there is a scientific reason why only one person should lose weight while the other fails to lose weight.


Simply put there are 3 basic metabolic types:- protein, carbohydrate and mixed. Each type should eat their protein fats and carbohydrates in a particular ratio. For example a protein type will need a much higher ratio of protein and fat than a carbohydrate. This in the main will account for most of the metabolic differences
