But there are things we can do and also things others can do if they are willing. Some are so obvious that they hardly need mentioning but perhaps hearing it again will be of some assistance.

Sometimes a friend or two can work together and support each other. Google Search for weight loss support groups will bring up many and also weight loss forum support groups. No need to spend money unless you want to.
One hard and fast rule is no food enters the home for anyone that does not conform to the plan to lose weight. It does not work to have some folks in the home junking out on snacks, sugars, pops and ice cream and then expect the one on a weight loss plan to not get into it. It would be like setting up a full bar in your house with an alcoholic, just plain stupid.

Also most of us don’t eat plain fresh fruit and it can be very satisfying. Remember to look into what things count as, for example an average banana counts as two fruits. Become a student of nutrition.
Find creative ways to add protein into your diet. Discover tofu (now I know many of you just wrinkled your nose) but tofu has NO taste, it only picks up the taste of what it is cooked with and rarely does someone even know they are eating it until I reveal my secret weapon.

But it is just like an alcoholic going dry, once you are clean you will be amazed how good food tastes. The flavors are amazing but sugar dulls your ability to taste.
I also like to keep on hand a variety of protein bars and healthy snacks that can go in my bag or in the car in a flash so I’m not tempted to run amuck. So here is to a new healthier you, enjoy your ability to lose weight.

I recently read a very interesting article that suggested that obesity was “socially contagious” Apparently a new study recently published in the New England Journal of Medicine concluded that if one sibling is obese, the chances of another sibling becoming obese increases by 40% (55% amongst siblings of the same gender). Likewise if one spouse becomes obese the likelihood of the other spouse becoming obese is increased by 37%. In mutual friends the risk increased by 171%. The researchers of the study believe that it should be possible to harness the same force to slow the spread of obesity.

How to Lose Weight: During Your Busy Day at Work
Are you desk bound for the majority of the day? Do you drive to work or sit in a train for an hour or more on your journey to and from work? When you get home at night are you so tired you just flop in front of the TV for a couple of hours? Whether you want to lose weight or not this is not a good position to be in. Your body needs regular exercise and you need to find a way to incorporate it into your stressful workday.
Here are a few ideas to help you in your desire to know how to lose weight during your busy day at work
As soon as you get up in the morning you can stretch your body to relieve any stiffness.
Invest in a rebounder and just spend 5 mins bouncing to wake yourself up. If you are trying to lose weight then a healthy breakfast including some fruit and some protein will get you off to a good start.
If you travel to work by train then a brisk walk first thing will get the oxygen into your lungs.
If you normally have a mid morning snack, maybe a biscuit or a pastry, try nibbling on some almonds or toasted cashew nuts. Alternatively a piece of fruit may satisfy any sweet cravings.
Make sure you have a chair that allows you to practice good posture. You could consider getting a balance ball to replace your chair, or you can even purchase chairs that have the ball built in as the seat. This keeps you in a constant state of motion and is actually better for your spine
Stand up every 30 minutes, stretch a little, walk in place a few steps - this can even be done while you’re still working.
Roll your wrists and stretch your arms regularly during the day
Get out of the office at lunchtime. Again a brisk walk will get the endorphins moving and a healthy lunch, maybe a salad and some fish or meat would be ideal for you if you are wanting to lose weight.
At your desk fitness does not replace a regular exercise routine, you’ll still want to get out and get moving for at least 30 minutes a day! What it will do is help you maintain your energy and keep you feeling good while you lose weight.

When you get home in the evening make sure you have a healthy meal and don’t eat too late in the evening. Take up an active hobby a couple of nights a week, maybe badminton or table tennis. Or perhaps you might take up golf at the weekends. All of these things will help you to lose weight.
